
The pandemic placed unprecedented technology-related demands on K-12 education. A new study commissioned by Spectrum Enterprise and conducted by the EdWeek Research Center suggests that these demands renewed and ignited interest in the technology partnership model. This model entails connecting school districts with external organizations such as municipal government, state government, and internet service providers, allowing all parties to pool resources and share expenses related to community technology needs, such as home internet access. The study included interviews conducted with participants in a diverse set of four case study partnerships as well as a nationally- representative survey of more than 200 district leaders.
