Analyzing the Economic Benefits of Dell Technologies with VMware Tanzu and Intel

As enterprises seek to modernize their application infrastructure to remain competitive, they face multiple challenges. One attractive solution is virtualization and the containerization of applications to reduce the virtual machine overhead associated with virtualization. Containerization derives benefits from effective orchestration through platforms like Kubernetes, the most popular open source option. However, moving to a container-based platform that enables applications to run in any environment (legacy data center or on the cloud) is complex. The planning and testing association with containerization is challenging, and many organizations face a shortage of IT skills to manage their modernization efforts. This report examines the partnership between Dell Technologies, VMware Tanzu, and Intel, as well as how these companies work together to streamline modern containerized deployments. ESG studied this partnership and explored the economic drivers that push organizations to Kubernetes, the challenges organizations experience with these environments, and the impact that the work of Dell, VMware, and Intel has on the overall ability of companies to reach their business and technical goals with Kubernetes. ESG found there to be substantial benefits in areas that include cost, agility, and improved security, due to the investment and efforts of these three companies. ESG also found that the combination of these companies led to a reduction in complexity that allows organizations to better realize the impact that Kubernetes can have in their ecosystems.
